Arizona Dude Ranches

Price Canyon Ranch - Douglas, Arizona

Open: Year Round

"Come as a guest and leave feeling like family".  The 120-year old ranch is rich in beautiful natural rock formations, wildlife and Indian lore. Cochise and his band of Indians are said to have hidden in these mountains. Legend has it that Victorio the cousin of Cochise hid in the mountains and obtained water for his tribe from the very spring that still supplies the ranch.  Activities here range from working cattle and trail rides to total relaxation such as lounging by the pool in the summer months or sitting in front of the rock fireplace in the fall and winter. Price Canyon Dude Ranch photo
Price Canyon Ranch headquarters is located at an elevation of 5,600 feet in the Chiricahua Mountains, offering the seclusion that allows guests to leave their lifestyles behind.  This is an operating cattle ranch as well as a guest ranch, so guests are encouraged to become a part of the day-to-day life, which means helping with the chores, rounding up cattle or riding with the wrangler to look for strays.  You may even join the ranch crew when they pack salt and protein to the cattle in the mountains.  More than just trail rides, at Price Canyon they discourage the nose-to-tail riding, and instead "Ride with a Purpose" - meaning they usually have something to do when you ride out, such as checking the herd, watering holes, fence or rounding up strays, BUT you don't have to work when you come - you can ride and relax and enjoy the horses and the beautiful scenery around you.
Children under the age of 12 are not encouraged unless they are good riders.  Children must be supervised at all times.  As an operating ranch we are adult oriented and have no supervised children programs.

Rates include room, 3 meals and two rides per day, weather permitting. Due to our terrain and the type of riding done here at the ranch we have a weight limit of 240 pounds.
Naturally you'll have your choice of leisurely or challenging trail rides, but for people who want a little more excitement, Price Canyon Ranch offers a round up in the Spring and Fall.  Ranch work is done on a daily basis; some days it's a little work and some days its just good old fashioned fun.  You may try your hand at branding or learning to rope a calf.  They also offer arena games (games on horseback).  You can try to maneuver your way through the man-made trail course, or speed it up for the flag race or pole bending.  Riding lessons are available at an additional cost.
There are several cabin styles available some with queen, single, and king beds.  All have private bath.  There is also a family cabin with two rooms, a sofa, a fireplace, and small refrigerator.  All rooms have a refrigerator and coffee pot.  There are no television or phones in the rooms, so you can truly relax and "get away from it all".

Amenities include a "People Barn"; this building has a recreation room with fireplace, television (the only one available to guests), phone (only one available to guests) and lots of books, board games, puzzles and a pool table.  Large groups of people will be served meals here.  There is also a pool and a hot tub on the property.
Meals are home-cooked and served family style with gourmet flavor.  Outdoor barbecues are held during the summer months.  They serve juicy roast beef, wonderful mesquite grilled pork steak or ribs, and although this is a cattle ranch, they have several wonderful chicken dishes.
Special Notes:
6.5% tax and 15% gratuity are not included in above rates.  Advance reservation and a 3-night deposit is required.  A 30 day notice of cancellation is required for a refund of deposit.  If you arrive later than scheduled or leave early they must charge for the entire stay.  Round trip transportation is available from the Tucson, Arizona airport for $200.00.
